What is Perennial Agriculture?
Perennial agriculture is the solution to many challenges we face from grain production today. Perennials are plants that can be left in the field to return for several years without the annual tilling that damages topsoil and leads to erosion and nutrient losses. Perennials develop a deep root system that helps sequester carbon, filter water, and keep continuous living cover on the land. Their ecosystem services offer contrast to the greenhouse gas-intensive practices of modern annual agriculture. They produce nutritious food crops while protecting natural resources, a win-win for farmers, farming communities, food companies, and home cooks. Learn more at Kernza.org.
Kernza® contains gluten and is non-GMO. Processed in a facility that contains nuts.
Only available in the United States.
We really enjoyed the pancake mix. The flour was good too. Haven't had a chance to make something with the whole grain, I'm waiting to use it in a nice beef soup.
I brought Kernza salad to a potluck, and they liked it! I found a recipe from the Forager Chef. It starts with lightly toasting the Kernza first before adding water. I added the mushrooms and other vegetables. A friend told me that it tasted like tabouli. Oh, I added some wild rice, too. It was a fun experiment.
Nice mix and value
I love substituting whole wheat flour with Kernza flour in bread recipes. The pancake mix was also great!
I've only used the pancake mix so far. So yummy! Products are pricey, but worth the cost. I got a couple extra Packs for gifts. Thank you Perennial Pantry.
Excellent Pancake Mix
The pancake mix tastes like a very good whole-grain pancake mix. They cook up correctly with no tricks compared to other mixes. I have received but not yet tried the flour and whole grain products. This is an exciting product line. I look forward to it being further developed and becoming more mainstream. The price will need to come down as and for that to happen.
